There's Hope For Today

DAY 306 OF 366

Moses thought he was banned for life. He had traded regal robes for the common garb of a shepherd.

He had mortgaged his future by murder and flight. He had blown his opportunity, missed the key connection, and lost his calling in the shifting sands of Egypt.

Can you relate to the fugitive shepherd? Are you certain that life has passed you by? Did you marry the wrong person? Did you turn down a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity? Did you lose your membership in the winners club? Moses’ story is one you have to hear. When it came to delivering God’s people, Moses was about as far out of the picture as a man could be. He was a runaway shepherd. His life now revolved around livestock. His royal years were 40 years behind him. It seemed that he was quite content to take care of Jethro’s sheep and live out his years in the Midian wilderness – and then God called.

A late-life mission wrote Moses’ name into the hero’s hall of faith in heaven (Hebrews 11:23). Life’s story doesn’t end until our hearts beat the final cadence. Fatalism is a deceptive mindset that blinds us to God’s redemptive purposes. You may be down, hurt, weary, and bruised, but you’re not out yet. Expect to hear His call – again.
