GLOBAL CRISIS PRAYERS – Praying for Everyone, EverywhereSample
Day 3. Pray for Your Community.
“Who is my neighbor?” someone once asked Jesus. The Lord responded with the Parable of the Good Samaritan (see Luke 10:25-37). The essence of this parable is, “What happens to you matters to me.”
This should guide our prayers for people in our communities—those we live near, work with, bump into at school, shopping, and so forth.
List the names of people in the various communities in which you are an “insider.”
Pray that the Lord will meet each one at his or her point of need, both physical and spiritual, according to His will.
Especially in crisis times, may each one know the truth of John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Pray that the Lord Jesus will pour out His grace and His mercy and fulfill His words to bless most abundantly!
About this Plan
While we’re called to pray at all times, we especially cry out to God in times of global crises—such as poverty, violence, disease. Yet how do we pray globally? How can we pray for everyone, everywhere? Over the next seven days, you'll find practical ways you can talk to God about people near and far, ensuring that “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
