Love God Greatly: EstherSample
The Bible seems to be filled with admonitions against pride. Over and over again, we read that we are to guard ourselves against pride because the proud will be brought down. We see the same thing here in these verses. It is better to know your place and to wait for others to elevate you to a place of prominence or honor than to do it yourself.
Jesus used these same principles in a parable He told in Luke 14. It is more respectful to quietly go about your business than to pursue honor and applause and status. We should let God be the one who honors us instead of honoring ourselves.
Dear God, Keep pride from my heart. Help me to find joy and contentment where You have placed me. Help me to be patient and wait for You to promote me if that is Your will for my life. In the meantime, help me to honor You where You have me at this time. Amen.

About this Plan
Esther is an incredible story that reminds us God is always working. From this story, we learn there is no such thing as "coincidence." Though God may seem distant, even absent at times, He is present. God is always with us and at work in our lives, just like He was in Esther's so many years ago.
