Messengers Sample
What happens when we die? Yeaaaa - we’re starting today on a positive note!
I know no one likes to think about death, but at one point or another, everyone dies. This is the circle of life. *Cue the music.
And while we don’t like to think about death, people have been wondering for centuries, "What happens after you die?".
Through the teachings of Jesus and the rest of the New Testament, we can put together a picture of what’s next. And, it’s very clear that death is not the end. We are told that when we die, we will live for eternity.
But, here’s the thing: when it comes to eternity, we will spend eternity in one of two places - heaven or hell.
What is heaven? Is it clouds and harps and angels? Not exactly. We don’t fully know what heaven will be like, but what we do know is that heaven is eternity with God.
What about hell? Hell is eternity without God. It’s described as a place of darkness where there will be “gnashing of teeth”, of fire and weeping, and where “maggots never die and the fire never goes out”. The point of all of these images given to us is that hell is a terrible place.
So how do we know where we’ll spend eternity?
It all comes down to what you choose to do with Jesus.
What you do with Jesus matters.
Have you chosen to follow Jesus and spend your ‘now’ with God? Then you’ll spend your eternity with God.
Have you chosen to do things by yourself and lived life without God? Then you’ll spend your eternity without God.
About this Plan
The last thing Jesus told his disciples was, “go and make disciples of all the nations”. We are called to be messengers - to share the good news of Jesus with others. In this plan, we’ll look at why it’s important to share our faith, some fears that hold us back, and what it looks like to actually share Jesus with others.
