DAY 4 OF 5

Complete Joy

People who remain in Jesus are filled with joy. They are assured of His love, provided that they obey His commands, remain in His love and love one another.

Jesus told His disciples these things so that their joy could be complete, because He never gives stingily, but always in abundance. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again,” He promises in John 6:35 (CSB).

Do you experience Jesus’ complete joy in your life? He wants to offer you His abundant joy. He promises you so much joy that you will not be able to keep it to yourself, and it will flow to others around you.

The source of your joy can never be taken away from you. He can give you the “though . . . yet” joy found in Habakkuk 3:17–18 (NIV): “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

He can give you the fruit of joy in your life—provided you are prepared to receive the abundance of Jesus and pass it on to others. Consider the requirements of experiencing this joy again: You have to remain in Jesus’ love, obey His commands and love others as He loves you. Are you prepared to do this?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, please give me Your complete joy in my life. Help me to remain in Your love, to love others sincerely and to obey all Your commands. Amen.
