25 Powerful Promises From GodSample
DAY FIVE: The Final Promise
The Bible’s last promise is one verse from the end of God’s book.
After predicting ominous final tribulations, the King of glory declares, “Surely I am coming soon” (Rev. 22:20). When He returns, Jesus will “descend from heaven with a shout, “the voice of the archangel,” and “the trumpet call of God” (1 Thess. 4:16). He will appear in “flaming fire,” with “all the holy angels,” and with such supernal radiance that “the light of the sun shall be…as the light of seven days” (2 Thess. 1:8; Matt. 25:31; Isa. 30:26). No wonder “every eye will see Him” (Rev. 1:7).
In a moment, the Savior will transform “our body of humiliation,” that it may be “conformed to His glorious body” (Phil. 3:21). “When He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). With one final stroke of artistic genius, the eternal Artist will make us:
like Him in appearance, shining “as the sun” in the kingdom of our Father (Matt. 13:43)
like Him in authority, ruling all nations “with a rod of iron” (Rev. 2:27)
like Him in intelligence, knowing God even as we are “known” (1 Cor. 13: 12)
Power proclamation: I proclaim that Jesus is soon to return and I will be changed in a moment into His magnificent likeness, to reign with Him forevermore.
