25 Powerful Promises From GodSample
DAY TWO: The Promise of the Father
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus commanded His disciples to “wait for the promise of the Father” (Acts 1:4). Ten days later it happened: a “sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven,” and “tongues of fire” appeared over them (Acts 2:2-3). Then the “Spirit of promise” (the Holy Spirit) entered their hearts (Eph. 1:13). Peter announced to the thousands who gathered, “The promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off” (Acts 2:39).
“The promise” was actually a number of individual promises intertwined—like seven bands of color blending to become one rainbow. God pledged through various prophets many unique things He planned to do in the new covenant.
Ezekiel explained God would “cleanse” His people and give them “a new spirit” (Ezek. 36:25-26).
Jeremiah revealed God would write His law on the hearts of His people, they would all know Him, and their sins would not be remembered.
Joel foretold that God would pour out His Spirit on all nations, and manifest prophecies, visions, dreams, miracles, signs and wonders. When it happened, the disciples were born again and became “children of promise” (Gal. 4:28). Since then, millions have received this supernatural transformation.
Power proclamation: I proclaim that I have received the promise of the Father. God’s Spirit now dwells within me and I have a new spirit. I have a new identity; I am a child of promise.
