THOUGHT OF THE DAY
How would you define the Church? The place where we all gather to worship God on the weekend? A place to meet like-minded people? Church is something we all define differently, whether we realize it or not. Usually, this definition is the underlying thought that drives and defines how we choose to interact with the local church we visit on the weekends.
What if the church was meant to look more like a family and less like a weekend Bible study? It’s easy to approach church like another thing to check off your weekend to-do list. What do you think church could look like for you if you were to go all in? What could be on the other side of a new commitment to the church? After all, the church is Jesus’ chosen method to care for his followers. Check out what Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-29:
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
GUIDED PRAYER
Father, thank You for my church. Thank You for the gift that The City Church has been in my life. Lord, reveal to me where I can best serve You through my church. Convict me, challenge me, and guide me closer to You through the guidance of my pastor during this season of my life. Continue to bring vibrancy to the relationships I’m cultivating each week.
Lord, I pray for the blessing of the leaders at The City Church. I pray for my pastor, that You would guide and care for him. I lift him and his family up to You today. Fill him with Your Spirit and guide him as he leads our church. I pray over the staff and volunteers. Bring us all together to experience all that You have for us. Help us to be examples of Your Word to each other. Help us to love one another through all situations with boldness as we are empowered by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
