10 Days To A Better Back To SchoolVoorbeeld
Proverbs 14:1
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
We all want to be considered wise women and if the wisest man who walked this earth said a wise woman builds her house, then we need to figure out what that means!
Every building project must begin with a solid foundation. A builder must prepare the land, leveling it out and getting it ready to build upon. Next, they begin to follow the construction plan- so that everyone is on the same page. House plans are referenced hundreds of times and often adjusted as the house is being built, but the builder sticks to the plan. Experts in plumbing, electrical, sheet-rocking, etc. are then brought in for their expertise. After an extended amount of time, the house is completed. A builder must be patient to see the project through to the end.
As mothers, we can follow the same plan to build our homes:
- Lay the foundation: Your foundation is your walk with the Lord. Read His word, make time for prayer. Develop a trusting relationship with Him.
- Create a plan: What do you want your family to look like in 10 years? Take time to think about the values, traditions and qualities you want your family to be known for. If you are married, include your spouse in this step. Build towards these things. You may need to make adjustments as you go, but the plan reminds you where you’re heading and helps mark your progress along the way.
- Bring in the experts: An expert might be a family member who has walked the road you are traveling, or a mentor from church or school. At times, you may need tutors or counselors for your children. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to call in an expert when you need specific wisdom!
Remember, you are building your house, your family. Be wise with your time and resources to build up the best family you can.
Prayer
Father God,
As I prepare the foundation with You, show me if there is anything in my life that I need to get rid of, to prepare my heart to be dedicated to You alone. Give me wisdom as I map out my plan. Life does not always work out the way we plan, but with my foundation strong in You, I know You will get me through whatever comes my way. Bring experts in my life to learn from. I’m ready to begin building my house! Amen.
