Profile of an Overcomer: Elizabeth was the wife of Zechariah, the priest. They were old and childless. An angel came to Zechariah while he ministered in the temple and spoke God's desire to give them a son. Because of their age, Zechariah did not believe the message; he didn't believe the words that came from God. As a result, the angel told him he would be dumb (literally unable to speak) until the child was born. Could it be that God did not want Zechariah's words of doubt messing up the timing of the baby’s birth and things leading to the appearance of the Messiah? Elizabeth, who had suffered much reproach in that culture where child bearing was of utmost importance, became pregnant, through Zechariah, and gave birth to a son, John. He would come to be known as John the Baptist, the one to call people to repentance and point out that Jesus was the Lamb of God, the Messiah. Today's Takeaway: As a believer, your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. He is willing to do the impossible in your body. Today's Hope-filled Affirmation: God’s Holy Spirit strengthens me with His might in my spirit.
