She somehow realized that God's favor was there to work in her life and break the barrenness. Hannah knew that she could trust God. This trust prompted her to make a vow that the child God would give her would be consecrated to be used of God as He saw fit. She knew that her life would be forever changed by a child sent from God and she was willing to give that child back to God. God's grace put her in a place of honor — she gave birth to a son who would become the priest to anoint David as king of Israel. Her son's name was Samuel.
