“And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. 62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.” (Luke 22:61-62)

In these verses, we read about when Peter denied Jesus. Peter, who had vowed to stand by Jesus no matter what gave in to fear and social pressure and denied even knowing who Jesus was. The weight of his failure is felt most deeply when Jesus turns to look at Peter.

However, this moment of failure was not the end for Peter, but rather a turning point. Jesus later restores Peter who goes on to become one of the most influential leaders in the early church.
