Establishing the Characteristics of Jesus

It's essential to establish what parts of Christ's character we, as individuals, must adopt and impart to others in each situation each day. Yes, according to His Word, we must always aim to be as much like Jesus as possible. Still, some characteristics are sometimes more important in a particular moment as we deal with each individual. This is where discernment is critical.

Jesus is the King of discernment.

Hebrews 5:14 states, strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

Knowing God's Word in its proper context will equip you as you pray for more discernment and exude this quality of Christ toward others. It will also strengthen your faith in Christ. Stay in God's Word! Jesus did! That's how He was prepped and ready for His assignment, and that is how we must also prep for our specific assignments of God!

You remember that old parental phrase, "Don't do as I do...do as I say?" Well, the Parent of all Parents...Jesus says we must do as He says, 'and" as He does! In word and deed, in The Name of Jesus! (Col. 3:17)

What about Christ's character of humility & servitude within our own lives?

The Christ never thought He was too good to hang with the common man. Even though He is the King of this world, He was found meek, humble, and lowly in all areas of life, and He came to serve, not "to be served." (Matt. 20:28, Mark 10:45).

He wasn't afraid of the lower or upper class. During His short span on Earth, He served many people from all walks of life. Jesus didn't differentiate whom He would assist based on gender, race, ethnicity, or social/mental status. He came to seek any and everyone who was lost and give them The Hope to be found and saved—as should we.

Let's establish His character, see from His eyes, and find ways to emulate Him today!
