Week 23. Day 4. Ezekiel 38-42.

Ch 38-39 Prophecy against God and Magog.

This seems to interrupt the flow of the ‘good news’ passages, and also some of the details are hard to pin down. I’m persuaded that the point of these chapters is to reassure God’s people that God’s plan of hope and salvation is not derailed by even scary foreign powers who seem so strong. God is sovereign over even them, and so is able to save his people.

Take time in 39:25-29 which speaks of this future restoration.

Are there any promises that are particularly precious to you?

Notice that the sign of, and means by which God will bring about all this blessing, is pouring out his Spirit (v29) - fulfilled at Pentecost.

Eze 40-48 The New Temple

Ch 40-42 Note: this is a poetic description, not a command to build. Like many OT prophecies, it uses the language of its day to communicate theological realities – in this case, the future dwelling of God amongst his people.
