Abide, Adore, Ask and Agree: 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting With Rock City Churchनमूना
DAY 15
In the famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches His followers to pray, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” The kingdom of God is often referred to as an upside-down kingdom because the love, wholeness, order, peace and justice of heaven are drastically different than the hatred, brokenness, chaos, anxiety and injustice found on the earth. The good news Jesus came to share with the world is that this upside-down kingdom has come to the earth.
Because we have been so corrupted by sin and the kingdom of this world, we need a reset! To usher in God’s kingdom on the earth, our thoughts must be traded in for God’s thoughts - our ways replaced by His ways. In Romans 12, Paul says this comes by renewing our minds.
One practical way we can renew our minds is by taking our thoughts captive, as it says in 2 Corinthians 10. This means we stop our negative and sinful thoughts before they build momentum; we rebuke the lies behind the thought, turn our attention to Christ and agree with His truth.
During this final week, we will study the kingdom of heaven by looking at the heart and mind of God. Each day, we will explore a heavenly reality that we will ask God to bring to the earth by agreeing with His thoughts and ways.
REFLECTION
1. Do you believe God has given you the authority to stop anxious, depressing, fearful, hateful thoughts?
2. Read Colossians 3:1-2. How might focusing on earthly things be distracting you from the heavenly realities of peace, joy, and love God has for you?
PRAYER FOCUS
Pray to have the mind of Christ.
