Consecrated: For Special Purpose
“The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to Him.” - D.L. Moody
To consecrate something means to 'make it holy'. Consecration isn’t a term you hear often among modern Christians, yet it holds a powerful truth. It refers to dedicating ourselves to God through specific acts of sacrifice. Consider this question: Who does God use during seasons of revival? What kind of people does He call?
God can work through any personality, any cultural background, any level of education. But the key is this: they must be fully consecrated to Him. God uses those who desire to be used by Him.
2 Timothy 2:20-21 says: “In a large house, there are articles not only of gold and silver but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master, and prepared to do any good work.”
You can see here that God has designed us to be clean, and from that new identity, purpose and good works naturally flow. There are three key components of consecration: cleansing, resisting, and sacrifice. Over the next three days, we will explore these elements to prepare our hearts for revival.
As we cry out to God for revival, consider starting each day with a focus on cleansing.
This cleansing isn’t about self-righteousness or religious effort. It’s about living out the righteousness that is already yours in Christ. It’s not about trying to make yourself right before God; it’s about realizing that you are already right with Him. So, why allow worldly influences to undermine your identity and purpose?
Don’t you want to be used by God? To see the lost return to Him? To witness God’s justice break into the world? To experience His manifest power returning to the church?
We need to live a lifestyle that begins with consecration through cleansing. When we do this we are setting the sail and preparing ourselves to be used by God as His instruments of renewal and revival in this world.
Here’s a prayer of cleansing to begin your day:
“God, I receive the cleansing that is mine through Jesus. I understand that I don’t need to make myself clean in Your sight, because Jesus has already done that for me. He has given me His righteousness. He took my place on the cross because He lived a sinless life, making Him the perfect sacrifice for me. By Your Spirit, help me step into the purpose You have prepared for me today. Amen.”

G. Campbell Morgan once said, “We cannot organise revival, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again." This 17 day journey through the scriptures will help inspire you with what the Bible teaches on revival and renewal.
