Day 2 – WE MIGHT NOT KNOW THE WHY, BUT WITH GOD WE KNOW IT’S GONNA BE GOOD

During His three years of public ministry, Jesus performed thirty-seven miracles, depending on how you count them. But counting the miracles is less important than trying to understand what was happening around the miracles. For instance, everyone remembers the first miracle, when Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding. What happened just before the miracle? According to the Scriptures, Mary told those present to do whatever Jesus told them to. These are words worth keeping in mind as we navigate our lives. Do whatever He tells you to do in your career, in your relationships, in your decisions, even if you don’t understand why.

Doing whatever Jesus tells us to do will require that we stop merely talking about what He meant and start doing what He said to do. This means cutting whatever ropes have us moored to the safety of the dock and pushing out a little further into the sea of opportunities He has made available. Will it be risky? You bet. Is there a possibility you will fail? Certainly. Will you question whether you are making the right moves? Of course you will. Do it anyway.

Listen today for what Jesus is telling you to do. While it may not be mystical or mysterious or what you first think of when you think of the miraculous, it will be important. I may have never seen anyone raised from the dead, but I have seen dead marriagesrestored, dead-end careers abandoned, and relationally dead people engage others with the kind of selfless love that can only come about through the power of God.

While we may not initially understand what Jesus asks us to do, most of the time clarity comes later. In our obedience, we allow God to use us to achieve something miraculous.

Prayer:

God, could I be the miracle in someone’s life today? Help me to listen to what you are asking me to do, to trust you even when the outcome is uncertain, and to boldly obey you!
