Look Up, Girl!

Heroines Are Never Helpless

There’s a reason why women are drawn to fairytales—where the pretty, barefoot peasant girl ends up living in a shiny palace with the handsome prince. All her troubles are over; her past doesn’t matter, her mistakes are in the rearview mirror, and everything is finally in its proper place. She is no longer overwhelmed or helpless. At last, she is safe!

If it were only that easy. Women feel a vulnerability most men will never fully understand. We’ve been harassed and abused, passed over, taken advantage of, and unacknowledged for our hard work. In the middle of a man’s world, we start to believe that we’re less important, have nothing to add to the conversation, and are easily dominated. After a while, we simply give up, resolved that things will never change.

My friend, you’ve been listening to rumors! The truth is, you are strong and capable, created to be loved, appreciated, and respected. There are hidden gems inside of you that only God knows about. He provides Power from High Places to fortify and support you. Read His Word and discover your true worth. If you need tangible help, there are organizations, churches, and social services eager to offer aid and guidance. You always have options.

Daughter of God, remember who you are! You come from Royalty—a princess with countless advantages. Take your place within the Halls of God’s Fortress where your voice is heard and your value is legendary. You are a heroine in this story—never helpless; always protected.

Question

What kind of hero or heroine do you look up to the most? How can you become more like them?

Prayer

Father, help me to recognize my value in You. Remind me daily that I am not a victim, but a victor when I refuse to accept how others treat me. Show me how to set boundaries and keep them. Help me to forgive—myself and others—as I forge ahead. Amen.
