Overcoming Scarcity Mindset & Embracing God's Goodnessनमूना
Day 2: Redefining Goodness
Our experiences and expectations often shape our perception of goodness. We may define goodness based on temporary circumstances or fleeting moments of happiness. However, the psalmist invites us to taste and see that the Lord is good—not just in moments of abundance or joy, but in every season of life.
We label good things that are over as bad, which makes sense in one way. Feeling loss or grief over something coming to an end signals to us that what we experienced is good. We cling to things that provide value to us. We want the things in our life that we love to be with us forever. We end up becoming so afraid of losing goodness in our lives that we put it away or hoard it because we've defined not having it as "not good."
It's scarcity at its finest, and it tends to rob us of all the goodness available to us. But redefining goodness means we have access to it wherever we are, whenever we want it. It is less conditioned by what we have or don't have but who we have with us. Where scarcity labels loss as permanent and bad, how different would it be if we postured to know things are good even if we can't hold onto them forever? All things are intended for our benefit and our goodness because we take refuge in an inherently good God.
Reflection: Consider how your definition of goodness has evolved. How has your faith or spirituality influenced this definition? In what ways do you struggle to see God's goodness amid challenges or uncertainty?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, open my eyes to Your goodness that surrounds me daily. Help me to find refuge in You, knowing that Your goodness transcends my circumstances. Give me the courage to trust in Your faithfulness, even when life feels uncertain. Amen.
