DAY 18 OF 21

## THE PASSOVER LAMB Have you ever wondered what communion is all about? I know I have. Communion is about honoring Jesus' body and blood. It says in 1 Corinthians 11:26, "For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are representing and proclaiming the Lord's death until he comes." During the Passover in Exodus, for God's people to be protected, God instructed the Israelites to put the blood of a lamb on their door frames. If they did so, He would pass over them and keep them safe. Although the new covenant is written a little differently than the old one, the blood of Jesus still protects and cleans us. We pray that the blood of Jesus protects us, whether on an emotional level or any other difficulties we face. Psalms 116:17 talks about how we will call on the name of the Lord, but only after we have offered the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Most of the time, we call on the name of the Lord to complain about how life is not good enough or that we aren't good enough at something. But really, we should just be thankful for what God has done for us and that He would sacrifice Himself to save us. We should focus on what we are good at and how God designed us instead of changing who we are to fit in. There are a couple of people I have changed myself for. At school, there was a more "popular" group of girls and a less popular group of girls. Sometimes, I changed how I presented myself to be with the more popular people. Instead, I should trust the way God made me and thank Him for that. Now, when I take communion, I reflect on all the things that God has done for me and continues to do for me. I can trust in Him and who He designed me to be. A couple questions for you to reflect on this Lent season: 1. Where has God worked in your life? 2. What does communion mean to you?
