DAY 15 OF 35

Worry seems to be a natural part of life in high school, doesn’t it? Happiness researcher Arthur Brooks defines worry as “unfocused fear in multiple directions.” Here’s what unfocused fear in multiple directions may look like for you: When you’re worried about your incomplete assignments, how you’re perceived on social media, or things happening in your family, all at the same time! So what do you do when worry comes at you from every angle? Vent online? Try to stuff it down? Get angry? The Apostle Paul says there’s a better way. In his letter to the Philippian church, Paul says that the best focus for any of our worries is prayer.

When we take our worries to God and tell Him what we need, multiple worries can become one worry at a time. And the best way to deal with worry is to take it to God one at a time. Ask a friend or Small Group Leader to be your worry-checker this week. When you’re worrying, have them pray with you and remind you to take it to God.
