ADVENTure: The Loud, Noisy, Roaring, Life Changing, Not So Silent Night

DAY 22 OF 25

The Adventure:

We come to our last description of Jesus from this verse in Isaiah. The Prince of Peace. In our world, there is a lot to get nervous over. Nervous about friends, schools, storms, sickness, and so much more. If I asked a hundred people what they are nervous about I would probably get a hundred answers. Here’s the good news: Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He calls us to give all of our worries, all of our nervousness, all of our anxieties on Him. Not just because He is the strongest thing to ever exist, or because He can handle it, but because He loves us. He loves us so much and He wants to care for us.

But back in the time of Isaiah, they had another thing to worry about, how would they get to Heaven? Back in Isaiah’s time, it was unclear how to get back to the perfect friendship with God that Adam and Eve had in the garden at the beginning of time. They were worried when they died whether they spend forever in Heaven with God or forever apart from God. That’s a big thing to think about and worry about, but here is the good news. We have a Prince of Peace. A Prince who brings peace.

You see, sin causes us not to be at peace with God. Our relationship is broken with God and we deserve a punishment. Back in the times before Jesus, the process of getting forgiveness of sins was so complicated, and very few people even followed God or wanted to be His friend. People were not at peace with God and they were scared of what would happen. But now we are at peace with God because Jesus died for us so we may be in perfect friendship with God. We can now pray to God, we can have joy, we can be citizens of God’s Kingdom, and we can go to Heaven when we die. Jesus brings peace to God and our relationships; all through His perfect death on the cross. The death we deserved, He died to pay for all of our sins. He rose three days later and He is a God of victory. We do not need to worry about anything because God will always win.

The Destination:

Jesus’ birth was not peaceful but it brought peace. So when you think of Jesus’ birth and how messy and complicated it was, remember that it led to the most important peace. The peace that is now available to all of us. Anyone can accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and find peace right here and right now.
