Lessons From Jamesनमूना
DEVOTIONAL
Do you ever struggle with living out your faith? At DTI we get it, it’s not always easy! The early church was no different. They needed guidance on pretty much every aspect of life.
James ends his letter with some practical advice for the early church - sort of like a ‘How to guide’ on being a follower of Jesus. That advice has stood the test of time and that advice is really helpful for us today too!
So here are 5 takeaways from the last chapter of James.
- Being rich isn’t everything - the world around us says that being rich means we are successful. Although James doesn't say being rich is bad, he warns us not to store up our money just for our own pleasure but to share it with others.
- Be a patient person - time and time again people in the bible have had to wait through some pretty tricky times. Sometimes it’s difficult to trust in God’s timing. But James encourages us to be patient.
- Mean what you say - Let your yes be yes and your no be no (v. 12). James encourages us all to be honest people who only say what we truly mean.
- Believe your prayers can do something - Our God has the power to change all circumstances and we need to trust him and believe that he’s the God who can. Pray big prayers in faith!
- Be a part of a community - life’s better together. There's an old African proverb that says If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together. Invite other Christians into your life. Pray for one another and celebrate your victories and trials alike.
