Focus on the Lighthouseनमूना
Now, we are decaying, physical flesh with physical needs due to expire around 70-100 years after our birth (if we’re lucky), in that time frame we’re obviously going to get thirsty in the physical sense, but that’s not what this verse is implying. It means that the source we go to in order to quench our spiritual and emotional thirst will never run dry. If your cup is nearing empty, there is a bottomless abyss of love, mercy, and compassion to refill it from, so that you can freely pour from it as many times as your needed. Just make sure you don’t forget where to refill it.
Reflection:
You’re going to be needed, sometimes more than you’d prefer to be and often when you feel like you’re the last person who should be called upon, so are you taking the necessary precautions for when those moments arise? Are you keeping your supply close? Jesus is your portable charger; your Infinite Supplier. He’s everywhere all at once, anytime you need Him. He is your lighthouse, and the lighthouse that works through you when others can’t see Him in the storm; make sure you stay hand in hand with Him so that when your loved ones can’t see Him, they can see you, and later on down the road they’ll see that you were the instrument He used to help them navigate their storm.
A prayer for the compassionate:
Lord I pray that I remain in Your presence and as obedient as I can be to Your ways. I pray that when I am called upon, I am worthy enough to be used as a vessel for Your love. I pray that You keep my perspective of my cup as half full, never half empty, for the source of which it is refilled is always with me, whenever I need it. I trust that Your will is greater than anyone’s, and that all things will work together for Your glory. I entrust my blessings and curses into Your Kingdom, for each are a reminder of Your goodness to me in the highs and the lows. I pray that when Your light that guides us is hard for my loved ones to see directly, you use the cracks in my heart as a lamp that radiates the way back to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have a tendency to take on the emotions of your loved ones, this one’s for you. We’ll save the book of Job for another devotional when YOU are the one going through troubled waters, not someone you care about. This is about helping yourself in order to help someone else.
