God’s Got This: Praying Over The Modern Orphanनमूना
"Wonderfully Made"
Prayer is a spiritual discipline. Prayer prompts spiritual intimacy. When you discipline yourself to pray intentionally over the Modern Orphan, you are connecting yourself spiritually not only to God, but also to the circumstances that some kids face on a daily basis. In ignorance or fear, some people make blanket assumptions about children in orphanages, the foster care system, or on the streets. But God says differently. They are precious to Him, and as such should be precious to us as well.
The first step is to get your heart ready to hear God as He speaks to you on behalf of His children. Assume the posture of prayer: a humbleness of spirit that recognizes that the Author of the universe has a plan and a purpose for every child. Fight to believe that this truth applies to every single child, both children you know and see every day and the ones you may never meet on this side of heaven.
For those of you who have a heart bend toward Vulnerable Children, you are being called into holy work. He has marching orders for you and those orders are clear. God says that we are “to look after orphans and widows in their distress” in James 1:27. This verse is often used when speaking about orphan care, but I’d like to highlight the semantics for a moment.
The phrase “in their distress” implies a season. Orphanhood does not have to be a life sentence! When the church stands up and is the church - the actual hands and feet of Jesus to His children - life change occurs. Life circumstances change. And the eternal trajectory of a life can be altered in a mighty way. So claim Psalm 139:14, which states that every child on earth is fearfully and wonderfully made.
Pray that verse now over a region, country, specific orphanage, or family you know who is active in fostering and adopting. God is moving on behalf of His children, and your prayers will be a huge part of this movement. So be bold and pray on!
