Through the Bible: Matthew

DAY 2 OF 11

Do Not Worry but Trust in the Lord

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:34 (ESV)

We are still in the crosswind of the Covid-19 storm. It is easy to worry and let anxiety invade us. News and media add layers of concern for everything in our minds.

But in this verse, God is telling us that we should not worry and should not be consumed by the future. We can live without anxiety because He is in control.

God wants us to look to Him, not the future, when we are troubled. God is our guide through our daily struggles. God is the same today as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow.

By faith and trust, we know that God has equipped us with everything we need to face each day of our lives. The Bible is our daily bread. It gives us what we need to be sustained throughout our day.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your Word and truth. Instead of worrying, we put our trust in You, knowing that You are at work for us and You are the one who cares the most for us. Lord, as You know our needs, we pray that You take care of them and provide what is needed for us. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Matthew

With more than fifty citations from the Old Testament, Matthew stands in the gap to unfold the grand drape of the New Testament stage, proclaiming that all messianic prophecies in the past have now been fulfilled in Jesus. The Kingdom of God will now be extended through the building of Christ’s church, and the promise to make Abraham’s descendants numerous will now be fulfilled through the Great Commission.
