DAY 10 OF 11

The Three Parables of a Christian’s Journey

….Well done, good and faithful servant!
Matthew 25: 21 (ESV)

Every word and every thought of Scripture are so perfectly chosen and arranged. There are three parables in Matthew 25. When I first read them, I thought they were randomly arranged, but they are not. The three parables speak of the three levels of accountability of a Christian.

The first parable of the ten virgins is about having the Holy Spirit (the oil and fire) taking residence in our heart (the lamp). A lamp with no oil represents spiritual death or false believers. It does not matter how good the lamp looks on the outside. You need the oil and fire in the lamp to function.

The second parable of the talents relates to the using of the gifts which God has given us. The parable teaches that we have different gifts, and our responsibility is to work for our Master and not for our selfish purposes.

The final parable of sheep and goats is about how we treat others as we would treat Jesus. Our service to Christ is demonstrated best by how we serve and care for the needy.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank You for Your saving grace poured into my life. Let me humbly serve You with the gifts that are deposited in me. Help me be faithful and do all I can to help others and the poor. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
