Sometimes, problems manage to pop up out of nowhere, taking us by surprise. Other times, we find ourselves facing the same issues over and over again, stuck in an old pattern we can’t seem to shake.

When you’re struggling to get to the place you want to be –– when you can’t seem to push past your current situation –– it can be difficult to keep moving forward. You might even be tempted to quit.

You’re certainly not alone in this. When Moses died, the Israelites had been wandering the wilderness for 40 years. After decades of struggle, it’s easy to imagine they were ready to give up. They had just lost their leader and they weren’t sure if God even still cared about them. But God spoke to Joshua and reminded him that He was with them — that He would “never leave or forsake them.”

He was with them every step of their journey. God lit their path as a pillar of fire at night and gave them shade as a cloud during the day. He was there on the mountain tops and in the lowest of valleys. He told His people something that still rings true for us today: “Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

He’s with us wherever we go. It’s a partnership, when one moves so does the other –– a little bit like dancing. It takes both parties meeting and flowing together to bring beauty and connection into difficult situations.

He extends His hand out to us because He desires closeness with us — but we have to accept it and let him in.
