DAY 4 OF 5

Grit

Did you know rare and valuable pearls can be found inside oyster shells? These pearls are formed when grains of sand get lodged inside the oyster’s husk.

Over many years, the oyster covers the irritating sand “grit” with layers of a shiny substance its body produces. Eventually, that little speck of grit becomes a beautiful, treasured pearl.

These pearls are produced from something that was a struggle for the oyster — it takes perseverance and grit for the oyster to form it.

Our lives are sometimes filled with struggles, but our hardships and trials are not wasted. God uses these experiences to strengthen our character and to bring glory and honor to Himself.

Having grit keeps you going until you reach your goal. Grit is finishing strong despite hardship, setbacks, or frustration. It’s choosing not to take shortcuts. It’s perseverance! It’s completing the race even when it seems impossible.

When we choose to master grit, we honor God with excellence. We don’t give up because we know that Christ will strengthen us, and in Him we can do all things.

Ask yourself: What makes it hard to finish what you started? Why is it important to have grit in tough situations instead of taking shortcuts?

Challenge yourself: Choose to have grit! Honor God with excellence and perseverance, and follow through. Never give up or take shortcuts. Find your strength in Jesus; He will be with you until the very end.

Pray: God, thank You for strengthening me, even when I fail. Help me to keep trying when things are tough. In Jesus’ name, amen.

During this episode of “Super Nova Standoff,” the StarKeepers teach us how to keep going even when situations are difficult.
