Peace Like A River

Isaiah 48:18a

If you had obeyed Me, then peace would have come to you like a full flowing river.

Put some water in a bowl, and blow hard on it as though you are making some waves. When you disobey God, your heart feels troubled like the raging waves of the sea. However, when you obey God, your heart feels peaceful like the still water in the bowl when you stop blowing upon it. 

Watching the water flowing in the river gives a sense of calmness and serenity. The feel of the flowing water refreshes and soothes our feet. Water is the source of life.

This is how the peace of God works in your heart, like a flowing river. Just as river water flows, the peace, calmness, and serenity of God is moving powerfully in your life, even when you can’t see it. When you obey God, the peace of God will flow inside your heart like a full flowing river. The peace of God gives you strength and comfort in the midst of adversity.

Prayer

Dear God, grant me Your peace that is flowing like a river. Give me a fully obedient heart to follow Your commands. Amen.
