They Could Notनमूना
THEY COULD NOT FATHOM HIS DIVINE COMMUNION WITH THE FATHER.
Today, we will meditate on the fourth saying of Jesus on the cross.
About the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? ”- which means, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew 27: 46.
We cannot comprehend the amount of agony that Jesus went through when he said, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”
What is more painful? The physical pain or the agony of the mind? This anguish is terrible! In this cry you will also understand his agony that he felt in the garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26: 36-46)
Let me quote the second verse of Michael Card’s song ‘Love Crucified Arose’
Throughout Your life You've felt the weight
Of what You'd come to give
To drink for us that crimson cup
So we might really live
At last the time love and die
The dark appointed day
That one forsaken moment when
Your Father turned His face away
Oh! that one moment, when His father turned his face away; What agony! Let this not go away from our hearts, Jesus paid for our sins, He endured suffering and shame, for you and me, He was made to stand before God as the sin bearer. (Isaiah 53:5), the weight of sin, Jesus bore alone, for you and me, He was forsaken, so we will never be forsaken, He was condemned, so that we will be accepted.
When He cried in a loud voice, they said, He’s calling Elijah. (Matthew 27: 47). They thought he was calling Elijah to save him. 'they could not' fathom his divine communion with the Father. In John 10:15, we see just as the Father knows me and I know the Father and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Take away:
- Are you walking with God intimately?
- If you thought that God had forsaken you, left you stranded; then what you have to do is, go back to Him for His arms are always open wide to receive you just as you are.
THEY THOUGHT HE WAS CALLING ELIJAH TO SAVE HIM. 'THEY COULD NOT' FATHOM HIS DIVINE COMMUNION WITH THE FATHER.
