You Are a Gift: And Gifts Are Meant to Be Given

दिन 4 को 7

We're halfway through this reading plan; well done!

So far, we've looked at Jesus stepping into the pandemic of our brokenness, setting an example for us to do the same—through His strength, doing good to others as long as God gives us breath.

He has created us all as equal in value, but we don't all have the same gifts.

But we do all have gifts: some we're born with; others given by Jesus when he saved us. (Ephesians 4:7-8, 11-12)

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. —1 Peter 4:10

Fan Your Gifts into Flame

You don’t believe you have a gift? You do. It’s the thing that you think is obvious, but is amazing to others. The thing that you think is nothing special because it doesn’t require much effort on your part. Or if it does, the doing is a greater reward than the cost of the effort.

You are uniquely created, crafted, and gifted to be in the world for such a time as this.

The best way to discover your gift—and stir it up (2 Timothy 1:6-7)—is in the act of serving others. Which is what the passage above is about.

You are a gift. Give yourself to others.

Reflection

What do people come to you for? What do your friends and family rely on you for? It could be a vocation or an avocation; a ministry or an expertise; a hobby or career. What are you uniquely gifted to do?

Read 1 Corinthians 12. What spiritual gifts have you or others recognized since you put your trust in Jesus? How are you using those gifts?

Remember

You are God’s gift to the world for such a time as this.
How does God want you to give yourself away today?

You Are a Gift: And Gifts Are Meant to Be Given

We often read the story of Esther and consider that “for such a time as this” moments are always huge, society-changing, mass deliverance-causing, headline-making times. But every day the Lord has ordained for us in this world is “such a time” for which we were created. Our gifts, our light, our relationship with Jesus (and with one another), our words, thoughts, and deeds are needed every day.
