JohnBlog - Word&Light Day 5
The Disciple:
It is hard to imagine, let alone believe, that the creative intelligence behind the Universe could and would set aside His infinite knowledge and Godly power to inhabit the body of an embryo to be born into the created order. The creator re-created as something less?
The Lord:
Recreated not as something less my son: recreated as something more. It was a step in the relationship with my Father that was required in order to complete our great plan for creation. Without my presence in our created world, we could not have prepared humanity for the next and final stage of creation - eternal life shared with me in paradise.
The Disciple:
How so Lord? Could your plan not have been drawn up without the need for you to live and die in humiliation?
The Lord:
That would have robbed men and women of the final ingredient in creation: my poured-out spirit. You and I are now one, my son. I the head, you part of my body. This could not have been so in quite the same way had I not lived as a man, died as a man and risen as a new kind of man. This was my initiation into the created world to which I shall one day return and remain. You and I, and the rest of my body, will live as one. You will live with me forever in unbounded joy because you have received the Spirit of your creator. And the spirit I give to you empowers you to joyfully submit to the Father, overcoming sin and fear of death because it was shaped in me, while living on earth. I overcame so you could overcome. I submitted to my obedience, so that you can submit to yours. As the fully human man Jesus, I incubated the Holy Spirit who would multiply the one into the many; taking from me and pouring out into those who receive me. This is my ongoing creative work, at work in you.
The Disciple:
I see now that you created health and physical weakness, happiness and suffering and use all to create something beautiful. I should run into the arms of suffering with faith and wonder at what you will do through it, not resenting it as though the creative God has abandoned me. Quite the opposite I now see.

यस योजनाको बारेमा
A meditation on John inspired by the 15th Century devotional ‘Imitation of Christ.’ In 2011 Chris Webster, a professor with positions at Hong Kong and Cambridge Universities, awoke from a 4 day coma. He started writing JohnBlog as spiritual instructions for his teenage daughter and son should he not return from a second cardiac arrest. This also tells everyone why he exuberantly loves life but considers death as gain.
