DEUTERONOMY 13-14:
In yesterday's reading in Deuteronomy, Moses continued to stress the need for faithfulness to God and all his commands. It is clear that Moses loved the people and was marshaling every argument possible to convince them to keep on obeying God.

PSALM 56:
Today we read Psalm 56, and it is another poem from the experiences of David. This is a good psalm for us to pray when we feel that our lives are out of control and that people are against us.

ACTS 11:
In yesterday's reading in Acts 10, Peter didn't even get to finish his speech before the Holy Spirit took control of the Gentile listeners. The new believers were baptized by the astonished Jewish-background believers from Joppa.

Let’s pray.

Lord Jesus, how we praise You for fulfilling God’s plan for all of us. We thank you that through the New Covenant that You established, everyone is now accepted on the same basis. Thank you that at Cornelius’ house we see the fulfillment of what you told the Samaritan woman in John 4. You said that Salvation would come through the Jews but no longer be based in Jerusalem. You said, “The time is coming and is already here, when by the power of God’s Spirit people will worship the Father as He really is, offering him the true worship that He wants. God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship God truly as He really is.” So now, Lord Jesus, by your authority, all— from any race, “who believe in You will have their sins forgiven.” This is because You are the one “whom God has appointed as judge of the living and the dead.” Lord, we pray that this message of salvation would finally come to all people groups on earth. Thank you for the Holy Spirit present with us. So today, as King David said, we will leave all our troubles with You. We trust You to be with us and defend us.
