DAY 4:  Lift Up Your Gates

Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be lifted up, you everlasting doors, that the King of glory may enter. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift up, you everlasting doors, that the King of glory may enter.”—Psalm 24:7-9

You are the temple of God, and inside you are ancient gates and doors just as there were in the physical temple in biblical times. These doorways need to be “lifted up” because they are preventing the King of glory from coming in and healing every part of your being.

So what are these gates? You have five of them in your body: an eye gate, through which images enter; an ear gate, through which sounds and words enter; a mouth gate, which allows you to take in nourishment and also to speak; a nose gate, one of your most important sensory gates and the one through which smells enter; and the gateway of touch and physical sensations.

In addition to the body gates you also have doorways to your inner man. These lead to your subconscious and conscious mind, your imagination, your reasoning and intellect, your memories, your will, and your emotions. If any of them are closed down, then the rivers of living water that are supposed to flow continuously from your spirit will not be able to penetrate into your soul to make you excellent and then go into your body to quicken it.

If the doors are shut, those restorative rivers can’t pour into the places you need healing. This is why Psalm 24 tells us to command our ancient gates to be lifted up so the King of glory can come in.
