Confidence
So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
HEBREWS 13:6 NKJV
As Christians, we have every reason to live confidently. After all, we’ve read God’s promises and we know that He’s prepared a place for us in heaven. And with God on our side, what should we fear? The answer, of course, is nothing. But sometimes, despite our faith and despite God’s promises, we find ourselves gripped by earthly apprehensions.
When we focus on our doubts and fears, we can concoct a lengthy list of reasons to lie awake at night and fret about the uncertainties of the coming day. A better strategy, of course, is to focus, not upon our fears, but upon our God.
Are you a confident Christian? You should be. God’s promises never fail, and His love is everlasting. So the next time you need a boost of confidence, slow down and have a little chat with your Creator. Count your blessings, not your troubles. Focus on possibilities, not problems. And remember that with God on your side, you have absolutely nothing to fear.
Faith in God is the greatest power, but great, too, is faith in oneself.
