Day 2 - Christ our Victor

1 Corinthians 15:57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (NASB)

The Greek word for “victory” is, nikos- victory, particularly the results of a conquest. In the NT, this victory always refers to the conquest accomplished for the believer by Christ (Mt 12:20; 1 Cor 15:54) – who conquered all the powers of darkness (sin). Christ already won the fight, therefore the believer doesn't fight for victory – but from victory!

Christ gave us victory! But let's remember this verse says, “Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” This means that we will encounter battles.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though something strange were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that at the revelation of His glory you may also rejoice and be overjoyed. (NASB)

In years of leadership, I’ve seen many Christians get frustrated when challenges come their way. Saying things like, “God why is this happening to me?…God where are you?…Lord, I’m doing my best here.” It can be helpful to remember that oftentimes we face challenges because we are doing the right thing, and the enemy wants to try and derail our progress.

We live in a fallen world.

Ephesians 2:2in which you previously walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. (NASB)

We have an enemy that comes to kill, steal, and destroy, it’s Jesus who brings life and life more abundantly. (John 10:10) The earth has chaos, confusion, and people who don’t know that they are loved by their Father in Heaven.

Our job is to manifest His Victorious reality in our circumstances so the people around us can see Christ in us, the hope of glory. (Col. 1:27) Our job is to bring His victory to a fallen and broken world through His power, love, and truth. We have the privilege of re-presenting Him here on earth.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for saving me. Father, use my life to show your victorious reality to the world around me.
