UNCOMMEN: The Wilderness Yearsနမူနာ
The Promised Land
For us to reach the promises of God, we must let go of what is behind us. In other words, we have to leave our Egypt behind and move out into the wilderness so that we may be prepared for the promise God has for our lives.
Those things we call promises from God in our lives can be many things. Most of them are unseen to us, but part of God’s will and purpose for our lives. Sometimes He reveals certain things to us so that we may even get a glimpse of what is ahead. I believe He shows us these things so that our faith grows to a greater capacity.
The crazy thing is that even when He does show us a glimpse, we allow fear and doubt to set in. We look back to the past and believe where we were was better than where God is trying to take us.
We move forward through the wilderness to refine and serve our purpose in the Kingdom of the Highest! The promised land means we are living our lives in line with the purpose God has for us. Even in our promised land, we can fall as we see so many times throughout the books of the Bible. God’s people make mistakes. It reveals in us how wholly lost we are without God; how much we solely rely on Him for everything.
All of this leads to the remedy, which is Jesus Christ. Only by His blood and through Him are we able to reach the promises of God. Without Jesus, we are separated from the Father, and we would all been left in Egypt to die. But instead, God redeemed us by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Our journey out of Egypt, into the wilderness, and the promised land, shows us that we are created for a relationship with the Father.
Our salvation is so much more than just us being in heaven with Jesus when our fleshly bodies die.
We can experience our salvation daily through our relationship with Jesus Christ. My relationship with Jesus is my “promised land,” which I am excited to live out daily.

Many of us can relate to being in the wilderness. Some have lived short seasons, while others have spent a large portion of their lives in the wilderness. Being in the wilderness does not mean you are lost. Sometimes we are not ready for the promises God has planned for us. We must come in close relationship with Him so that we may learn His will for our lives.
