Something is Wrong with My Food

“What are you cooking”, I asked my husband. He said, “Rice”. “Why can’t I smell the rice?“, I asked myself. I thought something was wrong with the rice. While eating, I was wondering why the food tasted bland. I thought my pregnancy hormones were affecting my taste buds.

Then, I had a quick flashback: A preacher mentioned losing his sense of smell and taste while sharing a Covid-19 healing testimony. He and his wife almost died. God miraculously delivered them from the spirit of death. It suddenly clicked; nothing was wrong with my food and my pregnancy was not responsible for the bland taste. Something was wrong with me. Covid-19 had entered my house. I realized there was more to the fatigue and headaches I was experiencing. There was more to our little one’s cough and runny nose. There was more to my spouse’s body aches and pains. However, I also remembered there is a God in heaven who is more than what we can imagine.

That day, I took the Covid-19 test and it came back positive a few days later. Thankfully, my family’s worst days were behind, and we were in good health within 2-3 weeks.

In the next few days, I will be sharing how God walked my family through our recovery process, and the spiritual lessons we learned.

The scripture impressed on my heart all through my family’s recovery period was Psalm 23:4 KJV:

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

God assured me that he was with my family, walking us through a fearful and unexpected situation. This brought me peace. I did not fear that our symptoms would worsen. God’s Word and assurance of his presence anchored us in the storm.

It is easy to believe God is with us when things are going well. God wants us to know that He is also there in the valley when life is difficult and unexpected events take place. God is with everyone who allows Him to be their shepherd. God leads, protects, and cares for his sheep.
