Have you ever noticed how much Aussies say, “100 percent”? 

“Do you think the camping trip will go ahead?” Answer, “100% mate!”. 

It’s our way of expressing certainty! Hope is the Christian's “100% mate”! That’s because Christian hope is not wishful thinking but firm confidence in the promises of God. 

Our hope is cemented in two unchangeable things (6:18), the promises of God and His oath. And since God does not lie, whatever He promises and swears to do, He does! 

This means that we can be assured that holding fast to Jesus will see us through the storms of life. This hope is our spiritual mooring that keeps us from drifting. It’s the anchor for our souls! 

In the midst of the turmoil of life, the wind and the waves of pressure and secularisation, our hope in Jesus tethers us.
