Social Myths Or Spiritual Truths - Trust Fall Seriesနမူနာ
The Bible is Trustworthy
Maybe you have heard someone say, “You know what? I don’t believe that the Bible is trustworthy.” Let me just give you a couple of facts. Number one: Over 3,000 times throughout the text of the Bible, the authors who were eyewitnesses to these things say: “It is true, I saw it.” Number two: Christ fulfilled 300 Biblical prophecies with His first coming alone.
Other people say, “Well, the New Testament has had all of these changes and errors.” That’s not true. The New Testament is 99.9% pure. The other 0.1% which may have shifted are little words that make no difference to the meaning of what is written.
If we talk about ancient literature, it stands out that there have been found 24,000 partial or full copies of the New Testament – 24,000! In a distant second place is Homer’s Iliad with 643 partial or full copies in existence. 24,000 versus 643. If a college student asks his or her English professor, “Do you think Homer wrote the Iliad?” then the professor would certainly say, “Yes!” But if another student asks, “Do you think the New Testament is true?” The answer would not be so positive. Yet remember, 24,000 versus 643.
Archaeological digs have proved the Bible over and over and over. Dr. Nelson Guelich, one of the great modern authorities on Israeli archaeology, said, “No archeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference. Scores of archeological finds have been made that confirmed in clear outline and in exact detail the historical statements in the Bible. And by the same token, the proper evaluation of Biblical descriptions has often led to amazing discoveries.”
A good archeologist in Israel would go with an Old Testament in one hand and a shovel in the other. Because if the Bible says it’s there, you just keep digging.
The Bible has stood true and unchanged through the ages, but scientists constantly make discoveries that debunk previous scientific claims and theories without ever apologizing.
We can be sure of one thing: The Bible is true. It is real. It makes a difference.
