Prayers of the Bible

How would you respond if you saw God in His holiness?

Today’s reading is about a vision from the book of Isaiah.

And Isaiah’s vision is awe-inspiring: the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, with His glory filling the temple. The seraphim cry out, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!” Confronted with such perfection, Isaiah is undone. He cries, “Woe is me! I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips.”

It’s a moment of absolute honesty. Isaiah sees himself as he truly is, sinful and unworthy. But then comes the incredible grace of God. A seraph touches his lips with a burning coal, declaring his guilt taken away and sin atoned for. God doesn’t leave Isaiah in his brokenness. He restores him and then calls him to go.

Jesus does the same for us. He reveals our sin, not to shame us but to lead us to His grace. On the cross, He takes away our guilt once for all, making us fit for His mission. And like Isaiah, we can respond with joy: “Here I am! Send me.”

Today, ponder this: How does seeing God’s holiness transform your prayer life and your willingness to say, “Send me,” to His call?
