“God appeared in his glory. All the powers of nature are shaken, and the course of nature changed, but all is for the salvation of God's own people. Even what seems least likely, shall be made to work for their salvation. Hereby is given a type and figure of the redemption of the world by Jesus Christ.” Matthew Henry Commentary

The chapter culminates in the hope and salvation of Jesus. Joshua led the armies of Israel and into deliverance. Joshua was an image of what Jesus would later come to do in a much greater way.

“All the wonders done for Israel of old, were nothing to that which was done when the Son of God suffered on the cross for the sins of his people. How glorious his resurrection and ascension! And how much more glorious will be his second coming, to put an end to all that opposes him, and all that causes suffering to his people!” Matthew Henry Commentary

The story of Exodus points us forward to a greater hope in Jesus. There is no greater injustice than that of Jesus’s death, and there will be no greater victory than the return of Jesus for His church!!

How can we bring this hope into today?

Habakkuk

Habakkuk is all about having vision when all you see is injustice. It is a timely book for the Church today to engage with. How do you carry a vision when the world seems to be going in the opposite direction? Habakkuk gives us some great insights into this question. This plan was crafted as a My Local Church study plan. We hope you will join us on this journey.
