Pain & Sufferingनमुना
There is purpose in the pain
As a teenager I learned the difficult lesson of trusting God with all things, and in all things. Through a memorable disappointment, I realised that He would disrupt my most well-thought-out, carefully planned dreams and have His way in my life. So, I decided then to instead submit my dreams to His will; that’s when He showed me that His plans were SO much better!
With adulthood came adult challenges:
The sudden loss of my mother, who was my best friend…
A marriage breakdown ending in divorce, leaving me a single mum of a pre-schooler and baby…
Getting a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment resulting in a mastectomy...
My little man being diagnosed with a disability…
It was a decade of hurt, and healing. Forgiving and releasing. Surrendering and trusting. It was a season of seeking God for all I needed, and finding that, when I trusted Him, He gave me so much more. The memorised words from Romans 8:28 had more depth and meaning when they became the story of my life. They were no longer just words, they were my life verse.
I faced heartbreaking pain in my deepest valleys, but also was able to celebrate the joy of victory and achievement from the highest mountain tops. I’ve been able to share my story and bring Him glory. Because of what He has brought me through, and what He has brought me from, I’ve seen the ‘more’ that He has, and His purpose in the pain. I’ve learnt that I can trust Him in all things. And so can you.

The Bible doesn’t say we will live a life free from pain and suffering; in fact, it says the opposite – it says that we WILL experience these things! But as Christians, our faith in the midst of suffering encourages others to lean into God during their suffering. Our hope encourages others to remain hopeful (God’s Faithfulness - Emma Barron).
