We are so blessed
In the late 1970s, excavators stumbled upon ancient burial caves in a valley just southwest of Jerusalem. Inside, alongside the pottery and the bones, archaeologists found two tiny silver scrolls measuring around an inch wide and a few inches tall. Written on both scrolls was the oldest surviving example of the Bible, dating back to the 600s B.C. A few lines and letters were broken off and missing, but the remaining words were clear: “The Lord bless you and keep you” (Numbers 6:24).
I have seen those little scrolls with my own eyes at a museum in Israel. You can see them with a quick search for “Ketef Hinnom Scrolls,” but every believer has seen that blessing in their own life. The Lord blessed us when he gave us a Savior from every one of our sins. And then the Lord kept us from eternal danger by giving us the gift of faith day after day. Think of it: There are billions of people on the planet who do not repent of their sins or trust in Jesus as their Savior. If you do, by God’s grace, you are truly blessed.
Some scholars called those tiny scrolls one of the most important discoveries ever made for biblical studies. I just call them a reminder of why we are so blessed. The Lord blessed us. And the Lord kept us. And God's keeping is one of our best blessings.

When we think about being blessed, we often start from a perfect life and subtract all the good things we don’t have. Instead, God wants us to start from nothing and notice every good thing that we do have. This reading plan will help you do that.
