God keeps you
The famous blessing of Numbers 6 says, “The Lord bless you and keep you” (verse 24). You can guess what it means to be blessed, but do you understand the miracle of being kept?
Think about a door for a second. Why do you have doors on your home? Answer—to keep you. Doors keep dangers out—strangers, animals, and elements like wind and rain. And if you have little kids, doors keep loved ones in.
What doors do for your family, God does for your faith. You and I, like curious kids, are prone to wander. Temptation is tempting, and sin is fun. Part of us wants it. Friends, classmates, coworkers, websites, and more want us to believe their messages too. “Be true to yourself.” “Jesus is a way to get to heaven.” “It’s my right to say what I want!” The basic message of Jesus—repent of your sins, believe in God’s Son, and be saved—is reconsidered every day. Not everyone stays. Not everyone keeps the faith.
And that is why your keeping is such a blessing. If your sinful nature hasn’t led you out into the deadly road of no repentance, God has kept you! If you believe that truth belongs to God and not to your heart, God has kept you! If the devil hasn’t convinced you that you are unforgivable and that you being in heaven is impossible, God has kept you!
God didn’t just call you to faith back then. He has kept you in the faith until now. What a blessing!

When we think about being blessed, we often start from a perfect life and subtract all the good things we don’t have. Instead, God wants us to start from nothing and notice every good thing that we do have. This reading plan will help you do that.
