Freely and Lightly

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

Have you felt a growing sense of overwhelm? Do you find it hard to keep up with the pace of the world around you? Are you feeling weighed down with the weight of every responsibility you have taken on?

Perhaps it is time to take stock of all the burdens you are carrying.

Overwhelm is often the result of trying to run in our own strength, rather than tapping into the supernatural empowerment of the Holy Spirit. That comes from spending time in the loving presence of our Father, receiving everything our hearts need, directly from Him.

God cares about your heart more than He cares about your performance.

Spend time with Him today and see Him lift those cares from your shoulders, one by one.

Journaling Prompt:

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you the heavy or ill-fitting tasks you have taken upon yourself. Ask Him to give you a plan to let those tasks go.

Declaration of Faith:

I keep company with Jesus and His love empowers me to live freely and lightly.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for giving me the rest I need to recover.

By your love, I am empowered to run the race I was called to run.

Make me sensitive to the leading of your Spirit, in everything I take on.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

Freely & Lightly

You have a race to run. It is difficult to run when there are so many things weighing you down. Cares of this world, distractions, and comparison, to name just a few. This five-day Bible reading plan will help you identify those weights so you can let them go and step into the wide, open spaces that the Father has prepared for you.
