Jesus-Centered Family Devotions

DAY 4 OF 7

Read aloud:
“Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.’”
(Matthew 19:14)

Say: Kids often can’t do what they want to do. They can’t ride all the rides at the carnival. Can’t go to some movies. Can’t stay up as late as grown-ups. And they never get to drive the car!

Take turns in your family answering this question: What’s something I’d do if I were just a little bit older? And why do I want to do it?

When everyone has answered, say: No matter how old you are, you can always come to Jesus. Kids, grown-ups…Jesus wants all of us to come to him!

Let’s ask Jesus how he wants us to come to him. Please close your eyes and listen quietly. If a word or idea comes to you, let’s talk about it when a minute has passed; maybe it’s an idea from Jesus for our family.

After one minute of silence, ask if anyone heard anything. Perhaps Jesus has a message for your whole family or someone in it.

About this Plan

Jesus-Centered Family Devotions

No-Prep, Zero-Guilt, Perfect-Fit Family Devotions for You and Your Crew. Family devotions have gotten a bad rap…and often for good reason. They can be rigid, yawn-worthy interruptions in life rather than fun, affirming opportunities for Jesus to spend time with your family. But these devotions—they’re the good stuff, because they’re a bit unpredictable (as in not boring). Because your kids aren’t just observers—they’re participants. And because Jesus will show up to speak to you and your crew about your family, life, and himself. He’ll come because you’ll ask, and you’re making room for him. So enjoy your time with Jesus—and each other.
