Bless the New Generation

Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eye was undimmed, and his vigour unabated.

Deuteronomy 34:7 (ESV)

And they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. They went after other gods, from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed down to them. And they provoked the LORD to anger. 

Judges 2:12 (ESV)

The Torah closes with a compilation of Moses’ last words in Deuteronomy. His last of the last words are blessings and leadership handover to the children of Israel. One could almost hear Moses’s heart worship “You are Way Maker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper…” His departure was neither due to weakness nor aging, but to the Lord’s timing.

He passed the succession to Joshua, who would succeed with testifying and meditation on the Word day and night (Jos. 1:9). Sadly, the next generation quickly forgot the Lord; everyone ‘did whatever seemed right in their own eyes’. Thankfully, the Word was firmly written and passed down, even Lord Jesus Himself drew words from Deuteronomy when triumphing over the enemy’s temptations.

Prayer:

Father, bless the new generation with Your help, knowledge, wisdom, presence, choice gifts, and fruits. Anchor their foundation with the eternal truth over post-truth culture. Fortify their structure with Your Word instead of a fragile worldly framework. Remind them of Your promises, that they will not compromise. Impress Christian educators with burden and boldness to rightly instill Christian faith, standards, and passion for Your Name. We ascribe greatness to You Lord, our Rock. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen!
