Psalms 49:16-17
Psalms 49:16-19 The Message (MSG)
So don’t be impressed with those who get rich and pile up fame and fortune. They can’t take it with them; fame and fortune all get left behind. Just when they think they’ve arrived and folks praise them because they’ve made good, They enter the family burial plot where they’ll never see sunshine again.
Psalms 49:16-17 King James Version (KJV)
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased; For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: His glory shall not descend after him.
Psalms 49:16-17 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, When the glory of his house is increased; For when he dies he will carry nothing away; His glory will not descend after him.
Psalms 49:16-17 New Century Version (NCV)
Don’t be afraid of rich people because their houses are more beautiful. They don’t take anything to the grave; their wealth won’t go down with them.
Psalms 49:16-17 American Standard Version (ASV)
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, When the glory of his house is increased: For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.
Psalms 49:16-17 New International Version (NIV)
Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases; for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them.
Psalms 49:16-17 New King James Version (NKJV)
Do not be afraid when one becomes rich, When the glory of his house is increased; For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.
Psalms 49:16-17 Amplified Bible (AMP)
¶Be not afraid when [an ungodly] man becomes rich, When the wealth and glory of his house are increased; For when he dies he will carry nothing away; His glory will not descend after him.
Psalms 49:16-17 New Living Translation (NLT)
So don’t be dismayed when the wicked grow rich and their homes become ever more splendid. For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will not follow them into the grave.
